No one can prevent an adult from moving anywhere he or she would like. However, if the move is determined to NOT be in the best interest of the child, a new custody order will need to be drafted and the court will decide whether the child will live with the moving or non-moving parent. The court will consider whether it is in the child's best interest to remain in his or her own neighborhood and/or school system.

If you and/or your children do move away, we can help you negotiate the payment of travel costs required to maintain your visitation rights. Travel costs can be handled in different ways. For example, if you pay all travel costs, the amount may be deducted from your child support obligation.

If your child's mother has taken the child and moved against or without a court order or moved without telling you where they are going, please contact a DADSLAW, INC. attorney as soon as possible. In either case, you will need the court to establish a new custody order to protect your rights with your child.
